What Do You Do When Things Are Out of Control?

What do you do when your job takes control of your time?

When that happens to have a job can suck.

Think about it, do you have control of your time or does the company?

Having a Job Can Suck

A Job Can Dominate Your Life

It wasn’t too long ago when I realized that my job sucked.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed what I was doing, I just didn’t like the amount of time I had to sacrifice for it.

I made lots of money, but I was away from home and my family more than I was home.

Maybe you can relate…

As I was flying to another city looking out the window, I realized that I was giving up too much, for what I was getting in return.

I started to question my sanity and wondering if the rest of my life was going t be like this.

Oh, my friends thought I lived this glamorous life. Traveling to cool cities and living it up. At least, that was their impression.

Problem was, that was just the vision in their head and not the reality of my life.

So I started to look at how I could make a change. A real change that would give me back control of my life. I wanted my freedom back.

I wanted to be the one deciding on when I would travel and where. I wanted that travel to be with my family.

Now I’ll tell you, it doesn’t matter if you have a job like mine or your go to an office, factory or any other kind for that matter.

If you are working for someone else, then you don’t control your destiny, THEY DO!

They call it a job for a reason. I like to look at it as “Just Over Broke”.

What happens if that company decides to lay you off or goes out of business? What if you get sick and can’t work?

Who is going to pay your bills?

That is what was going through my mind while I was looking out the window at 35,000 feet.

I decided at the moment that things had to change and quickly.

When I got to my destination, I broke out my laptop and started searching for ideas. I just knew there had to be a better way.

I deserved it, my family deserved and I was determined to find the answer.

Ready for a Change

I’m a techie from way back. I love working on computers, and just about anything, that hums with electricity.

That being said I had seen the ads on Facebook about making money online, I even had bought some eBooks and courses to learn more.

But…

I never really put any of it into action. I will be honest; most of what I got was just collecting digital dust. Sitting on an electronic bookshelf waiting for me to pick it up and start reading or listening to it.

I do not know, maybe you have done this too. If not, I congratulate you!

Anyway, I started to dig through my library of information. I started reading about what other people were doing and what was working.

Google is a great friend when you need to do research. Put in just about anything in the search bar and you are bound to find tons of links for it.

That is exactly what I did and after taking most of the evening digging, I realized that there were two ways to go about this. There is affiliate marketing and there is product creation.

So which one was the best approach in my situation?

If you are going to do something to change your life, this question is one you have to ask yourself.

Well, after sleeping on it for a bit, I decided that affiliate marketing made sense. It was something I could do in my spare time whether at home or on the road.

Affiliate marketing allows you to promote someone else’s product.

The reason it was appealing to me was there was no development process or having to provide support.

Can You Just Send traffic to Your Website?

Can you just send traffic to the offer and let the profits roll in?

This sounded like the perfect approach.

And it can be, but you need to consider some things that will affect your results. You are going to be competing with other marketers who are promoting the same products.

You cannot just throw traffic at the offer and expect people to pull out their credit cards and buy the product.

People are not going to buy just because they see an offer. Well, there may be a few that will, but that’s not the norm.

Unless the people you send to the offer know you, they are probably just going to move on without buying. What’s even worse, you will never see them again.

What is a person to do? That is the million-dollar question, isn’t it?

Here’s what I discovered. To be successful with affiliate marketing, you will need to build a following. You need to build a list of people who know, like and trust you in the niche you are looking to be a part of.

Once you have done this, you will need to know their pain points, the issues that your followers are dealing with. Then you can find a product that will solve that problem and present it to them as a solution.
